Clients must access a domain-based namespace by using the format \\DomainName\RootName. In DFS failover, clients attempt to access another target in a referral after one of the targets fails to respond or is no longer part of the namespace. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. DFS-R "kinda works" but it has numerous drawbacks. I won't be getting funding for SAN storage anytime soon so that is out of the question. ![]() However, I need some direction here as to what would be the best solution. I've been looking at DFS-R and did a little reading on Windows Clustering. I'd like to consolidate the file shares and setup a HA solution for all three sites. We currently have a number of physical and virtual servers with file shares sprawled across all of them. ![]() I have about 250-300 users between the sites with 300 Mbps fiber at each location. I work for a company that has three sites within 15 miles of each other.
